27th March The Garden at Abbey Cottage Patrick Daniel
The garden at Abbey Cottage at Itchen Abbas, near Winchester belongs to Patrick Daniel. He will describe, in his illustrated talk, how he found the garden, redesigned and created the garden as it is today. The garden has featured in several TV programmes and is open to the public for the National Gardens Scheme.
24th April Cottage Gardens for Sally Gregson
A New Century
Sally is the owner of Mill Cottage Plants, specialising in rare and Japanese hydrangeas, which were exhibited at Hampton
Court in 2005, winning a Silver Medal. She writes regularly for The Country Gardener magazine and The English Garden. She has a book on Practical Propagation (Croxwood Press) to be published Spring 08 and was a speaker last year in Vancouver, Canada and Ghent, Belgium.
22nd May Digital Photography in the John McCormack
Garden
John is a retired dentist with a lifelong interest in photography and an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. He will
talk about digital equipment, photographic techniques and show how images can be adjusted to get the best results from your pictures of plants and gardens.
25th September Extending the Season Marina Christopher

After studying Botany and Marine Biology followed by 3 years in research, Marina escaped the confines of the lab. to begin
a new life as a nuseryman. She now runs her own nursery growing plants attractive to wildlife especially insects and specialises in unusual perennials and grasses.

30th October The Gardens at Great Dixter Fergus Garrett
Glebe Hall, Winterbourne
The late Christopher Lloyd’s parents bought Great Dixter in 1910 and engaged Edwin Lutyens to design the garden. After training at Wye College and experience in gardens both in Europe and here in the UK, including Beth Chatto’s, Fergus
became Head Gardener in 1993 and “an all important change and improvement in the fortunes of Dixter came about” ( Christopher Lloyd’s Gardening Year). Fergus is also on numerous RHS committees.
27th November Through the Year at Glen Chantry Wol Staines
The three acre garden at Glen Chantry in Essex has been developed by Sue and Wol Staines since 1976. A variety of habitats have been provided for thousands of different and unusual plants ranging from bulbs and woodland plants in Spring, colour co-ordinated island beds in Summer, through to later flowering perennials and grasses in Autumn. A keen plantsman, Wol will bring plants propagated in the nursery.
26th Feb – AGM Designing & Planting Andrew McIndoe
Early start
Andrew is the Managing Director of Hillier Garden Centres and nurseries and is responsible for the Gold Medal winning displays at RHS Chelsea
